“Tell Another”
Four hours in a walk-in clinic
Because Cuddy says it’s necessary—necessary!
Doesn’t do much to
cure a grumpy cynic
“Maybe I’m too stoned to care,” I say just to be scary
When I’m at home I drink
But at work never act like a fool
Or patients won’t get
Critical help—that’s
my rule
The things people do for love…
Lie about fatal diseases if they have to
Right to my face and my team, too
Swearing
it’s all true, true, true…
Every day there’s cases to analyze
Give me another give me another
I’ll sort through patients’
pack of lies
As they tell another tell another
“Everybody lies”
And that’s the truth
Don’t they get:
“Help me to help you”?
Think I’m incapable of love?
Break into homes if I have to
And risk my job to help patients, too
Until I
reveal what’s true, true, true…
My diagnosis starts
Leaving patients to wonder
Deep in denial
No physician can shake
If they followed their hearts…
But, no, they sit and wonder:
Is living worth
Sitting through my tirade?
I feel weak when pain management fails
And take another take another
Thirty-six pills because I’ve failed
It’s
like they’re my lover they’re my lover
Every day people are surprised
By my candour by my candour
They set me up and I see through their lies
So they
tell another tell another
I know people think
I treat them like tools
They’ll just have to fret
And play by my rules
The things I do for love…
You’re going to lie—I’ll just assume that’s true
And figure
out a way to save you
Because that’s what I do, do, do…
