This one is based on “Superman’s
Song,” made unforgettable by Crash Test Dummies lead singer Brad Roberts and his unique hangdog voice. It will also
always remind me of a true superman in terms of spirit and courage: the late Christopher Reeve. May he rest in peace. Link

“House’s Song”
House acts as if he doesn’t
like humans
He hates that they lie
when they’re facing imminent harm
They’re whacked,
that’s just a fact and they bungle
But Doctor House, he has
them figured out
He takes it for granted,
“everybody lies” so
He keeps digging until
he uncovers what’s really happening
Doctor House could have
made lots of money
From pharmaceutical companies
or private funding
But he floats amidst the
sea of humanity,
A man apart, as he heals
and treats them
Hey nobs, House does a
great job
He could have worked in
any lab
In the United States,
experimenting on lab rats and apes, but he did not
Even when the leads he’s
following seem dead
And his theories crumble
House makes himself
Stay strong, so what if
an idea’s wrong, he keeps going
House’s humour stings
but is contagiously funny
He takes great delight
in tormenting Cuddy
Even when he despairs
at all the suffering he sees
He refuses to give in
Doctor Cuddy is the hospital
administrator and Queen of cotton swabs and surgical tape
She thinks House is an
S.O.B. but admits as a diagnostician he’s great
Sometimes when House saves
patients just in the nick of time
I’ll bet he wants
to quit and just go back
To his home, disconnect
the phone and let his leg rest
But he argues with Cuddy,
and has accepted his role
In mentoring his three
little Ducklings too
But apart from his friend
Wilson he’s alone
Doctor House is very angry
but funny
And is slowly rejoining
the rest of humanity
But don’t expect
him to turn all soft and mushy
That just wouldn’t
be him
